Welcome to Thelma Cares Academy
Over 27 years ago, Thelma Anderson answered the call and took a "Quantum Leap" and began what I had envisioned and desired to do. I've always desired to open a child care center to service families who desire a safe haven for children. The name would be Thelma Cares Academy.
The Mission:
We serve low to moderate families in the Northwest area of Houston, Texas. Our desire is to accomplish the foundational fundamentals that are required as well as needed by children in their early childhood development.
Thelma Cares Academy's goals are to NOT be impressive but IMPACTFUL.
We have served this community with our hearts as the forefront. It has been paramount in our WHY. Some of our students have attended and graduated from Clark Atlanta University, Hampton University, Prairie View A&M, Texas Southern University, and Dillard University to name a few.
We are also elated to say that all of these students received a $4000.00 Scholarship in honor of Ms. Thelma's mother (Mrs. Anita M. Fortune) who passed in 2010 from Alzheimer's and loved and cared for children without any reservations. Thelma Anderson granted $1000.00 per year directly to these students and they were able to spend this scholarship at their own discretion. It is also commendable to say that these scholarships were paid for directly out of pocket by Thelma Anderson no other sponsorships were involved.
We are mandated and committed to:
-
Foster an environment that acknowledges each family for their uniqueness
-
Provide quality, flexible, and affordable service that will not financially strained families
-
Impart each child with a happy fulfilled introduction to school and beyond
